Best place to have engine work done in ohio?
Well I seem to hae a nasty noise coming from my engine close to the crank pulley. I had hoped it was a faulty exhaust but no dice. It gets worse as it warms up. Seems to increase with RPMs. Makes clicking metalic noise. Any idea what it should cost to just pull the motor and reinstall it?
I am looking for someone who knows what they are doing. I want the car back in less than two weeks. That should be doable? As long as I don't need machine work to the block?
It just makes me sick! It's not the money as much as it is the inconvience and worrying! I just can't believe this happened I don't beat on my cars at all. I mostly do second gear pulls just till I need to shift in to 3rd.
Thanks
Ralph

take it to Switzer Performance Innovation He will treat you right, his name is Tym Switzer he does amazing work in every aspect. He works on my 02 996TT and has been working on my cars for a long time now, He does amazing tune work too if you need a tune. He has GIAC software and somthing else too i believe. He also has Renntech stuff i believe he can tune Mercedes n stuff too. But ya his number is 440-724-8495. Hes in Oberlin like 20 minutes west of Cleveland. Just take 71 up to 20 and go west. But im going there tomorrow to pick up my car. You can call me too if you like my number is 330-231-0101.

Ralph, very sorry to hear about this. Have you had it properly diagnosed? Pulling the engine seems drastic at this point given just a ticking noise. It may eventually need to be pulled, and I hope not, but have a dealer put a PIWIS on it and see what it produces for data. Motronic is a great system for tracking its own problems. As far a someone who can do this, keep in mind the 996TT engine really is a different animal compared to previous engines and many dealers and Indys may not have taken one of these apart. Call me if you get a chance. Kevin

Yea, Tym is a GREAT guy, although I believe relatively new to the Porsche scene in terms of heavy work. But I could be wrong. Steinel's (SE Cleveland) is a very good Porsche Indy that you should look into as well. Hope it's something minor!

Try Wright Tuning in Cincinnati. They specialize in Porsche's. John Wright has run many Champion winning Porsche race teams for years. BJ, Randy or John know their stuff and are highly recommend. Wrighttuning.com
My 1997 993 3.8 RSR race car is there right now with the engine out and being dyno tuned. I have also had them work on my 993 TT race car. These guys know there Porsche's!
