Protomotive upgrade nearing completion
RCNJ - No, I'm in NH - but NJ is not that far for me...
Scott - Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'm thinking the same thing and I hope you are right. I just spoke to my tech and he is getting ready to start the car, but wants to keep the car for a few days, log a hundred miles or so and check for air and fluid leaks before releasing the car. That's OK with me and sounds like a sound plan. I'm fine with a few more days at this point, especially if it's as good we seem to think it will be.

Here is a picture showing the power assisted 996TT slave (laying on the trans - looks heavier, too) and the 993 slave installed (smaller black piece). You can see the hole where the 996 mounts - this will be plugged. The face where the 993 slave mounts had to have a similar sized hole, as the 996 side, bored and the case had to be tapped for the bolts, however, the case is designed to accomodate this piece and had pre-existing bolt mouldings to tap. The debis entering that I mentioned previously would have been as a result of fabricating a bracket to hold the GT3 slave over the original entry port and the resulting non sealed port, as the GT3 slave is narrower than the diameter of the opening and leaves a gap all around. I can now see why my tech didn't like that method. As he said, this will now be a proper factory type installation.

Here's another picture of the motor out of the car

And a close-up of the right side turbo...

In order to complete the conversion to non power assisted clutch, we also had to order a 993 fork, which is a mirror opposite of the 996 fork shown laying on the case. You can visualize how the mirror opposite of this piece would line up with the black 993 slave currently installed.

John,
Just wondering... Why didn't you go with Todd's intake plumbing?
I would love to see your car after its finished. Like Alan said maybe you can let us know when your coming to Protosport and we can all meet up.

Thanks guys for the positive comments...
str8blst,
I have spoken to Protosport a few times and they sound very proessional and knowledgeable. That said, I am looking forward to the tuning experience about to unfold with Protosport and your endorsement just reinforces what others have said.
I have not set a date yet, as the last two dates had to be postponed and I figure this time I am just going to wait until I have the car in hand and then set a date that I feel I can keep. It will most likely be sometime in the next 3 weeks depending on my and Protosports schedule. I'll let you know when we set it up...

This started out as a simple Protomotive ECU, K24/18G turbo, Greddy BC and throttle body set-up with "V-flow and ported headers (of which I already had)". It was going to be similar to Gunthers set-up and I was going to use the same program that was developed for Gunther. Then I threw in a set of intercoolers for good measure. We were set to go when my tech mentioned if I was thinking of a fuel system upgrade - now would be the time...with the engine out. I called Todd and he agreed, so I added the fuel system, too. Originally, I was going to send the car to Todd to do the fuel system with air intake and intercoolers next winter, but the project took on a life of it's own ending with the package described here-in...
I'll let you guys know when the car is there...would love to see some other Proto cars, as well.
Thanks, IllM3 - I getting anxious now, I just want to try it out...

Congrats John....You will be very pleased with the package. Good move doing the fueling upgrade at this time. The injectors used are not only a upgrade flow wise they idle better and are much smoother. They are light years better than the OEM versions.
The IC's will really help when running pump fuel.

Glad to see your build is coming to a near completion.. Can't wait to see the results. GL
