opened my gas cap cover yesterday and it won't stay open, suddenly, on the GT2. just falls back on pumphead when filling. galvanised spring thing is not missing.

anyone know how to fix this??? [w/o schleppingheimering to dealerdumpster]. thanks

[and jack, don't bother to say this is what happens when you buy used cars w/ 67 miles on them]

Wattster -- would I say that? But, I have heard that not keeping the rpm's below 4200 for the first 67 miles can cause this type of gas cap cover problem.

No it's the slate grey. The heat properties from the paint cause premature wear on the sproket/spring.

Because it does the same thing to the springs in the suspension, this makes Slate the slowest color as well.

Unlike Speed, or shall we say FLYING, Yellow!

ok, ok i guess i earned it. gas flap problems are serious, life threatening driving issues. i think Porsche should offer a gas flap school to anyone who buys a GT2 w/o racing level skill.

tyson,

that's going to catch on: the new GT2 colour for world class racing drivers:

FLYING YELLOW.

and what do you call it after it lands?

FRIED EGG SPLAT YELLOW.

PS. For Sale: 03 GT2 needs gas flap work.

Unhappy Ach! It happened to me too dude

Watt, this happened on my '01 TT after about two years. I couldn't figure out how to fix the @#$%^! thing. I had the dealer fix it under warranty when the car was in for a service.

Sorry, can't tell you how to fix it; only that I can feel your pain.
