First Flat Tire

Ok, need advise?? Got my first flat tire this evening. Driving home from dinner noticed a rumbling vibration from rear thought it was a tire but figured I was blocks from home so limped home. Driver's side rear must have gone flat and by the time I was home I destroyed the tire.

Question 1 whats the best way to remove the wheel / tire. I don't have a jack low enough to get under the car and don't really know where the best spot to locate jack (lifting point) is.??? Should I try the stock setup for removing the tire??

Question 2 I have perreli Asimetricos (spelling) Where do I get a tire from. (best source and the fastest best price)????

Thanks

Andreas

The stock jack should go low enough. There is a little arrow
impressed into the black plastic molding along the side, at the
rear that shows where the jacking point is, underneath about 6".
There's an opening that fits the projection on the top of the
stock jack.
If your tires are nearly new in terms of tread wear, you could
buy one replacement from tire rack. However, if your tires are
significantly worn you should probably replace both rears.

Had a flat on my '02 996 cab...

drivers side rear !

Had about 6,000 miles on the tires (about half worn). Found that I had to replace them both as the car felt horrible with one new and one partially worn tire. I'd done about 1000 miles like this, thinking the inbalance would wear off. It didn't :-(

Hi. Here's a link that loks like the best jack for this car (very low
and a long reach)

Agree 100%. I used this as an excuse to get 19" wheels and new rubber all around. Took 20 minutes to change the tire. only 5 to switch to 19s

speaking of tires, I had tread bar on Friday and cords on saturday. Wow, did that happen quick. 12,136 mi on stock Pirelli P Zero with about four DE's before I got some track wheels. Pretty good for my part of NC roads considering all of the silicates (sparklies) that tear up tires. Now I have free conti sport contact II and they are much more quiet than the Pirelli's. I thought it would be the other way around. I was surprised to learn in AWD just how much more wear was on the backs. I mean I know they haven't been rotated and all but still, the fronts look darn good. (oh my gosh, I think I'm beginning to think in southern vocabulary)
