1. I am not sure if I have the dealer fix it with porsche parts, no additions (Like RODS or better springs and retainers). They said they will fix it till it's right.

2. If I send it off to a engine builder. I have the delay of about 8weeks. Along with Porsche North America not there to bully anyone around. I would assume it might cost a few grand more.

3. A crate is a but load more money list is 26k. I heard of them as cheap as 18k. That would not be bad if I could sell my factory motor for 5k-6k.

I am leaning more toward the 1 and 3 option.

You know it's not so much the money as the hassle. I would really like to driving it right now!

Ralph, I truly hope this works out in the end. Keep the faith....even though it is difficult at the moment. I say go with #3 if you are just going to drive the car and be happy. #2 if you want more out of it now or in the future. The delay sucks and may very well be longer than 8 weeks, but if the car is long term for you , as it is for me, some short term pain for a long term upgrade may be the solution. Look on the brightside, you still get to drive your Audi...Take care, kevin

Does the noise lessen in gear or when you rev it up? I had a similar sound, ended up being a rattle inside the rt side muffler. My sound was similar but not nearly as loud.

Jag
Jag not really almost disappears under the engine noise. Noise is not a exhaust baffle. I swapped my fabspeed to the OEM.

Thanks
Ralph

This is a very tough call.
My car was fitted with a new crate motor in early 05 and now has 16K's on it. What would appeal to me with a replacement engine (besides being on the road quicker), is the new ancillary stuff, later spec motor and the 2 yr warranty (if sourced thru a dealer (Suncoast?)).

I called Suncoast here is the skinny!

996tt/GT2 $18449.00 $200 Shipped
Core Charge $5600
3-4 Days From Warehouse 4-5 Days shipped to my door

Not that bad. If I could buy a toatally junk motor send that back for core and get some money for mine I would be in. I would like to not have more than 14-15k out of pocket for this chapter! I owe the dealer money for pulling the motor.

Want to help install a crate motor

This is why I purchased a Z06. 5yr-100000 mile warranty. The main thing I miss is the back seat for my kids.

Well my advice is just run the crap out of it till it fails! Either way you might as well buy a motor! So wait as long as you can.
