Upsolute - No problems now.

I've had the Upsolute chip for 6 months now. When it was first installed I got the dreaded ABS/PSM failure at WOT. I couldn't track the car with the PSM on or the computer would show the failure. Because the benefits of the chip was SO great, I lived with the problem (it only happened one time off the track.)
I spoke to Rene directly and he said that he could correct the problem with a re-programming. He did. I tracked the car yesterday at Lime Rock and had the PSM on all day because of rain. I didn't have any computer problem the entire day.
Bill (BCS996TT), I know that you have the after market exhaust, but you should speak to Rene. He obviously knows how to program the Upsolute chip.
PS. The work was done at My Garage in CT. The guys there are friendly, the work was done while I waited, and I do recommend them.

David,

I have been in touch with Rene and they will soon be coming out with a new update (for me), so hopefully that will be the fix. In the mean time, once I have some more time, Im going to do another thorough inspection to make sure there is nothing else attributing to the PSM/ABS lights.

Just curious....what gear/rpm were you able to hit on the straight away before "Big Bend". If I can recall, it's usually around 120MPH (which wouldnt be enough to trigger the lights...for me at least).

I can usually trigger the lights in 4th gear around 5500+ RPMS at full boost.

True test would be Pocono full course.

I've had mine for a month and it absolutely rocks. No issues at all. Rene and his son did a good job.

I am considering the Upsolute chip on my '04 996 TT, April build. Did you just have the chip installed or other mods? Can you describe the changes in performance, and handling, if any?

I really miss Lime Rock, I used to drive my original Mini Cooper S there. Now I drive my new MCS and Boxster S at Summit Point.

Thanks.

I was hitting about 125-130 in 5th gear at the end of the straight but there were times that I stayed in 4th and came to and stayed at redline. I had no problems all day!

I have the Upsolute with no other engine mods. The increased boost (up to 1.0 - 1.1 bar) is dramatic. There is no increase in turbo lag and I have seen no downsides to the install. I have had no issues (since the reprogramming) and believe it is the best money spent on my car.
I would not personally do ANY mods until after the break-in period. This will allow time for dealer warranty work if any issues first come up and will also give you time to then feel the improvement when you do do the chip.
Good luck with your new car.

David...that's great news...Hopefully I too will be trouble free once I get a new program. Right now I have the latest program with only exhaust and DVs.

Hey guys,
Bill (BCS996TT) and I have both been in touch with Rene for some time now regarding this issue. I too am having problems with the PSM/ABS lights. I had Rene load his "fix" not too long ago, but that still doesn't work on my car. Supposedly there is a new "fix" coming that should resolve the problem, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I have an 04 with Fabspeed exhaust/Cats, BMC intake filter, and Bailey DV's. I don't drive the car much if any so I've been waiting for Rene to fix this issue, but once this weather improves I will be driving it much more and I do not want to deal with this problem.....

Maybe I'll just go ahead and slap on a Stage 4 package and be done with it...

Bill,
You are right, however, the car didn't have any problems before the ECU upgrade. I had driven it hard before the upgrade and it never triggered these lights....

Seems like some people get the CEL and most don't. Is there any common denominator among those who do get the CEL? Have they attributed it to any one thing? Or does it seem to be a random problem?

No really sure. There used to be a problem, however, the new update solved the issue for most people....with exception of Mark and myself.

Basically the increased flow of air overwhelmed the MAF sensor...thus triggering the PSM/ABS light (not CEL). The new program raised those values so the lights would not be triggered on full boost runs.

I've got my fingers crossed that the new update will be the fix for me!

Why doesn't the same thing happen with other tuners' products though? Does Upsolute raise the boost significantly more than the "other guys" ?

limitup,
That's a very good question. I'm not sure why, but it seems that only the Upsolute software has problems with the maf sensor limits. The software from the other companies run same or similar (1.0 Bar) of boost and no one has any problems with the maf sensor limits. I'm very curious as to why Upsolute reaches the maf sensor limits. Their program must be pushing a bit closer to the limits considering the HP levels are comparable to stage 3 equipped cars with the bigger turbos. Maybe the compressed air is overheated by the smaller turbos and thus triggering the lights??
