Anyone have any idea what a TUrbo motor is worth?

I have a noisy intermediate shaft on my car. Motor only has 16k miles. Very well cared for.

So what is the whole thing worth? I am thinking about parting it out instead of sending it back for a core exchange.

What I am thinking is trade my good parts for broken parts plus money. Since a head is $2700 each. I could save someone a bundle!

I will have 2 brand new K24 turbos for sale with trade of broken K16's or k24's

The idea would be send porsche back a motor with absolutely no salvageabl parts! They totally pissed me off on this deal. They require a core and that what they will get!

What are your thoughts?

What would you sell me the K24's for? My K16's aren't broken, though.

careful with the core exchange... I've been told that porsche is known to reject some returned motors

Brand new is over $40,000 and no I\C's required. A rebuilt is about $16,000.

I'd get it in writing. Typically there is a document that goes with the new crate that describes how the core must be returned (condition,e tc)

Good luck- been following the problem....

They will take your engine, but they won't accept it if it has been opened (dissasembled) for any reason, so be weary. Sonny.

Well I found a vendor who got me a awesome deal on a x50/GT2 crate motor (complete with turbos and spark plugs!). He even made sure I got the latest revision. There have been four since my motor was produced. I was able to sell him my old engine as well. Truly a better deal then I had hoped for. I wonder what was fixed in these revisions? No one seems to know. Why would porsche advertise it anyway. I think I may do this lightweight flywheel and clutch from UMW. Labor has already been spent. I just need to spend another $2k
