Damn wheels rubbing - People smarter than me help!

19" techart gts on a 03 TT w x73. When I hit a big dip or bump the wheels rub - which wheel to be exact ..not sure

How can i fix? Is there a way to hike the car up an inch or so?

Is it the rear wheels? The techarts have a very agressive offset. You might need to roll the fenders.

try an alignment first before you go crazy. IT IS TECHART. I really dont think they would design them so aggressive they would rub. but techart wheel owners would know better then I. I suggest alignment. GL

Increase camber. Post pictures please to see ride height, and offset. Also tire sizes.

I Just re-read properly your post. Make sure your wheel well protection liner is not loose as well.

Does it look like its hitting the outside of the tire? Like can you see little lines around the top of your tire that aren't suppose to be there lol.

Found some old 6speed posts that said with 19"gts techarts on a 315's try the camber at 1.5 might have to roll fenders as well. SHI$!

Makes sense. Rolling the fenders is not a big deal at all.
If you have a baseball bat you can do it yourself at home.

Club411,

The techart wheels for a 996tt have a 25mm offset (really, really agressive). No other company makes this offest/width/diameter combination 1 piece wheel! These wheels extend 1/4" further out that OEM GT2 wheels. Most people running GT2 wheels on a lowered car require rolling the fenders. So running 19x11/ET25 Techarts on a lowered 996tt, you will possibly have to roll the fenders and/or raise the rear and/or run more negative camber than stock.

Its not the wheel(12") or tire(315) widths that causes the issue. Its the offset. Most companies limit the offsets to 30 to 45mm. Don't know why TECHART choose an ET of 25mm.

it's your rear tires hitting the fenders... i have the same issue. get the rear fenders rolled.. should cost you approx $300 done professionally!

you should see pieces of rubber missing along the edge of your tire... and smell burnt rubber when you hit!

So would rolling the fenders help if it is rubbing on the inside of the wheel well and the on the outside. To be honest I am not sure where it is rubbing.
