Took the motor build plunge!

My car just left for its 1200 mile transport to Imagine Auto. I am taking the motor build plunge. Car should arrive this Saturday. I hope to keep you all informed as my progress is made. Looking for nice numbers and the ability to Beat the F out of my car! I will be recieving the Hitachi MAf and a few other tricks. Its so sad...... my baby is gone! hopefully not that long! haha

Congratulations Suman!!! I am informed that the Hitachi MAF permits superior tuning with greater flexability and precision. What in particular are you putting inside the engine? Are you changing turbos? What other "tricks" do you have planned?

Good luck with the project. Stephen is an outstanding engine building!!!

well first im gonna do the hitachi set up and tune the car so its perfect( with lot of boost). then im gonna build the motor and strengthen mostly. I want to tune first due to the break in period on the motor build. Well see as things come a part what im gonna go with it. who knows there might be gt30 turbos in the near future . All on kasper now! lets see what miracles he can pull. As far as building for more RPM I dont think I need that but who knows.

...I don't think I would want to be in that car with you if there were a higher redline...

Sounds like a good plan. You are in very good hands with Kasper. Consider the GT30s . . . they are a good balance between power and spooling. Also consider a higher rev limiter . . . I would do it if I could.

I am not familar with the permitted superior tuning of the Hitachi MAF. Is this a high pressure side (compressed boost side) MAF or a low pressure side (install between the air filter and turbo intake) MAF like used on the stock 996tt's?

I must concede that I do not know the answer Chad. What I have been told (the vast majority of my comments are nothing more than rank hearsay) is that the Hitachi MAF accurately reflects relevant data points at levels beyond the OEM MAF, thereby enabling greater precision and flexability at levels where the OEM MAF did not provide adequate data. Without sufficient data, one is limited in terms of the range of tuning parameters. Conversely, with additional and more accurate data, one can implement a far greater range of tuning parameters in order to acheive the optimal balance. I hope that makes sense because, with my ever so limited background, thats about the best I can explain it, and I admittedly understand very little about the specifics.

Regards,

Craig

Sorry, I don't know a thing about the Hitachi MAF either. I was hoping you did. The real high hp motors that I am aware of are successfully using MAF's that locate on the boost side.
