Sorry about the dumb question but..... what is that honking sound as you are coming off the banked sweeper? Is that a diverter valve honking?

That was my Michelin Pilot Sport Cup rear 305-30-18 rubbing. It only rubbed on that carousel. I also need to stiffen the shock settings a couple clicks stiffer on the PSS9s!

Are you the same Mikelly that used to have a Corvette? I think we've met at VIR - I used to have a silver Z06. I haven't been to the track in quite awhile, and recently picked up a C4S which I will probably track lightly in the coming months. Hope to see you out there when I make it to an event!
I am indeed. I'll be at VIR Full W/PCA in September, so comeon out and play!

I am usually at 5-6k rpms as much as possible if not at redline. I would consider dropping an additional gear in several corners and see how that goes when the GT3's are not slowing you down!!
thanks for sharing the vid, was great fun.

Tom, You're correct. I was still getting used to the track, and it was only the second day I've been there (First day was the day before) and I am still getting used to this car. I will start playing with gearing when I go back in October w/ Mazdadrivers.com IF I take the Porsche. Might have my track car done and on the track by that weekend, so it just depends.

Yea, he's a VERY nice guy and it was very impressive for him to have it at the track so soon after buying it... It was still sporting the 30 day tags. We chatted a bit after that run and he was very cool to talk with. There were a bunch of cool guys there at this PCA event. Guy named Craig is in the Silver CarreraS in both vids and he and I had SOOO much fun playing rabbit and fox. That car is light enough, but still has enough power to be formidable at the track in the hands of a skilled driver!

The high HP masks a LOT of my own "faults", and my goal is to have stepped up several notches in my own driving by the end of this season. I have 12 days at the track this year, and I've done 4 already, and have Watkins Glen at the end of the month for 3 days. The only way I know to get better at driving is to drive more on track. Hopefully I'll have some marked improvement over the coming months!

I was at Summit Pt last weekend and I had NO problems with 996gt3s prepped for B stock...in fact...if I wasnt using PS cups, I would have left the gt3 in the dust...the GT3 driver was also much more experienced...

When I was at VIR, I was posting VERY similar times to 997gt3s...was very cool indeed...

is it EVER...

I swear, they builders of this particular engine...spend another hour or two on it as on more than one occasion, it has run down cars that quite frankly...it shouldnd have...like a 996tt with GIAC tuning and exhaust (car has around 520 hp or so) and stuff like these GT3s...its also pretty strong...ehem...but I found that out another way...haha

hows your tracking goin' Tom?

Add another 80BHP and you'll get the feeling I get every time I jump in mine for a spin... What's amazing is how the weight of this car really isn't felt on moderate to large sections of the courses I've been on... On the smaller, tighter stuff, sure, but otherwise you'd not know this thing weighs in at 3564# Cornerweighted...
