91 Octane Limit

Does anyone have solid info on the limitations of California's 91 octane gas in a 996 TT application?

I keep reading that our gas here really sucks. The current sport compact car magazine states that a factory stock 350Z is riding it's knock sensor on this gas.

I have heard that 76 station's 91 octane is really pretty close to 93 octane. Does anyone know anything about this?

The cars are actually tuned for 93 stock I believe... but running 91 it'll retard timing a little. It's also tuned so conservatively at 93 that running 91 won't really do much. It's not like "stock" you'rer running that much boost either. What I do is just either throw in some 100 or run 100 straight.... I didn't really notice a difference when I was stock and running 100 vs 91. Mind you that was a long time ago so maybe someone else can chime in...

RKS is infamous around these parts
With evo II chip, would it help performance to add octane boost additive (such as amsoil 2000). It's a paita locating 100 octane fuel, and I seemed to notice (subjectively) better performance in my na 996 using octane boost additive.

I've heard mostly mixed opinions about octane boost additives. Does anyone have any hard evidence that supports these products?

Sincerely,
Paul
