B&M

Navigate to the Porsche products (Products/Manual Shifters/Porsche/996 View) and there are pdf instructions on that page.

I used the on-line instructions and have my car preped (completely apart with the OEM shifter removed) for the B&M and ShiftLink arrival tomorrow.

As for getting the correct cable length for the ShiftLink, I decided to measure the "neutral" position of the stock shifter, referenced from the CD holder, so after matching the ShiftLink's length to the OEM plastic connectors length, I'll have another cross reference, in addition to the marked cable. It should all match up, but adjusting doesn't look like it will be a problem if it's off a little.

I installed the B&M shifter and EVO ShiftLink this afternoon. No problems at all, and the cable didn't need adjusting.

The car shifts as close to "rifle bolt" as you can get with cable actuation. It's great!

Rockitman

I marked the cable with tape right at the end of the OEM plastic connector. Then I used calipers to measure the distance between the center of the OEM connector "socket" to the front edge of the tape. I adjusted the ShiftLink so the center of the socket to the end of the link was the same as the OEM. Once the link was on the shifter all I had to do was insert the cable into the link until the tape was at the end of the link.

You can't use overall length to match the two because the ShiftLink has a smaller diameter socket end.

I can't say the installation went perfect, because I lost the torx screw that goes in the very front of the console! I'll have to get one from the dealer tomorrow.
