Removing switches from ashtray piece in console

I'm going to hook up a garage door opener but am already stuck LOL. How the heck do you remove the blank plastic pieces and/or window switches from the ashtray surround piece? I must have had too many glasses of wine tonight because I can't get them out. I assume there is something to push etc. to release it, but I can't find anything. Anyone?

There are long stems on the blank pieces, just pull them out. As for the window switch, just pull the plugs with the wires out. The actual window switch can stay.

I have some instructions in the link below, let me know if you get stuck again.

I just did Sharky's last week. Put two openers on one switch. It's a sweet job if I do say so myself.

I'm pulling on the long stems and the things aren't budging. ???

If you're saying you just pull them out, that means you should be able to press them out from the other side right? It just doesn't move. Seems like there should be a latch or something holding it
in but I can't figure this thing out.

As far as the window switches go, I need to remove those too because I'm moving everything to my new "ashtray delete" piece. Same deal with the window switches - seems like there has to be a latch or something holding it in but I can't find anything??

It's funny how I always get stuck on the simplest of things ...

I pulled/pry them out at an angle, not straight back. You can also use a tiny flat head screw driver, pry it in there and pry the switched out, but be careful if you do it that way.

Do the window switches just pull out too? How do you pull them out when there's nothing to pull or grab a hold of??

I must be a real dope because I can't pull out the blanks either. What holds them in if you can just pull them out?

they are a bit tougher, but yes, they just pull out also (at an angle).

Did you get the blank ones out?

Nope, not yet. I'm pressing the stem pieces in towards the middle and pulling them, pulling them straight, etc. and it just won't budge. It's acting as if there is something holding it in ... I'm stumped if you say to just pull them out because I'm pulling with all my might and it's not moving lol.

Try pulling them at an angle like you are and using a small flat head screwdriver to pry the edges. They are seriously just snapped in there.
