Fuel line Q?
Fuel line Q?
If I upgrade my MAF and injectors, is it possible to do so w/ the stock (GT2) fuel lines if I only shoot for say a 50 rwhp increase?
Also, will I need to upgrade my fuel pump?
I ask because I saw that someone else on another thread was upgrading injectors w/ the stock lines.
Thanks.

Sean,
I would be surprised if your car didn't already have 60lb injectors, lines and rails. The rails and injectors will be hidden from view, but you can verify the line upgrade with the car on a lift.

I can't say that I know everything about what lines you have in the car but I can give you some fuel line basics.
If I remember correctly, flow through a cylinder is proportional to the 2.5th power - meaning a 33% increase in the fuel line will yeild approximately 200% more flow capability as 1.33^2.5 = 2.04. What this means to you is that going from say a -6 line to a -8 line means you have approximately twice the horsepower capability.
What's the ID of your fuel line? I assume if you have stock injectors you're talking about going from stock power to 50whp higher. I'd be amazed if Porsche has the fuel system that stretched from the factory...I'm sure there is room there for another 50whp.
EDIT: If you're going from 590whp to 640whp I have no idea what lines you have so I couldn't tell you if they are stout enough.
I also saw someone say something about 60lb injectors, Those are not adequate for 640whp...well not safely.

The Protomotive 700 uses 60lb injectors, dual High Pressure fuel pumps a new MAF - with the stock fuel lines.
injectors, MAF housing and additional pump

Upgraded MAF

Beyond this level you would probably require larger lines, but that's just a guess.

Its the connectors on the stock fuel system that is restrictive...
Sean needs some fuel upgrade.. then he can finally unleash that car...

Thanks everyone,
Saw Akram today and we finally got the car up on the lift.
Just as we suspected, I have the GT 28's. We are going to consult w/ Todd K, but we are going to go w/ a new FPR and had one other significant power enhancer that is going to remain a secret (Sparky is going down!).
John, Yes, it looks like my fuel system is completely stock. I was not aware that the dual pump set up and larger injecters could be used w/ the stock lines. Very, very interesting observation, thanks for the input.I will talk about that with Akram about implementing that set up.
W/ the new baby and investment program I am undertaking, I am just looking for a moderate power upgrade w/ reasonable costs, and this set up looks good.

When you say connectors, are you talking about the fuel rails?
I ask because I believe they also need upgrading.
Akram is calling Todd to talk about my car today, so we should have a plan soon.
Since I should be pushing the stock bottom end, we will probably not do the other "power adder" (I think everyone guessed what that is) unless I want to risk 700 plus rwhp on the stock rods.
John, we were toying w/ doing your throttle boady and lower plenum set up, but I am probably too cheap to spend the other 2 K it would take. I think 1.1K for the RSS lower plenum is a bit steep.
