Straight pipes vs Fabspeed load
Straight pipes vs Fabspeed load
Well guys I am thinking of putting some straight pipes (If I can find a used set) THe catless kind! I am wondering if there are any mods to the bumper tips ect? How much louder will it be then a first gen Fab speed LOUD! I just don't think it's loud at all.
Anyone got any for sale?
Thanks
Ralph

100 cell cat and straight pipe vs straight pipe from turbo are about the same as far as noise. New a set is only around $500. cheapest exhaust you can buy and best hp and lightest weight to boot. Only way to go IMHO. Car accelerates faster, spools faster, and easier to heel toe, and sounds like a Cup car!!
Interior noise is not bad, can still talk and listen to the radio. At idle car sounds aggressive as it should and no cop will ever say anything to you on the street unless you get on it. Best thing I ever did!!
Of course not for the faint at heart.
Stock tips bolt right on, no mods needed.

some people have gone from Fabspeed Loud to straight pipes and complained about non-responsiveness. i have no personal experience but this does make some theoretical sense - exhaust velocity helps spool; with the straight pipes, the exhaust just dumps out and never really gets going.
do a search and you'll see some posts...
I, for one, have lost enough hearing thanks to my Fabspeed Loud

You guys are pansy's, straight pipes FTMFW. After my truck is done, all four of my vehicles will have straigt pipes. Sure you lose a *little* low end torque, but the top end gain compensates for it ten fold. I usually don't start a race off idle anyways.

(you're only 22 - i've had 10 more years to kill my ears w/ loud music, open wastegates, and this fabspeed loud exhaust...)- chuck
I had straight pipes and what got me was the drone...it is GOD AWEFUL...straight up eardrum thumping...so I went with an interesting combo...I now have a B&B GT exhaust (100 cell system from the factory) which I have blown the cats out...now, I get nearly all the straight pipe wonder during take off WITHOUT ANY DRONE WHATSOEVER...I obv through a code, but it is always easy to take off...
