996 TT or 997 S

I am in the process of updating my '01 996TT. I am currently working on the interior of the vehicle. However, after having the chance to drive a 997S at length this week, I started to wonder if I should just upgrade to the 997S.

Along with being more comfortable, the drive of the 997S seemed to impress me more than my stock 996TT. The ride was also smoother than what I am accustomed to.

I would like to know what others think of trading a 996TT for a 997S.

Thanks.

humm...I never understand these posts...why do you care what we think about whether you should do this? If you like the 997 more than the TT...just do it. What do you think we are going to say? Do you actually care what we say? LOL.

A good buddy of mine has an 06' 997S Cabriolet and it is a damn nice car, but after feeling the power of the TT wouldn't even consider trading.

I've always been of the opinion that a downgrade to a newer car is still a downgrade...I say TT all the way.

I'm not trying to start anything...I just think things like this are personal decisions. This is not like modding at all, IMHO. I know...I should probably just not post.

Before I traded in my NSX for my TT, I test drove a 997s with PASM and left with a great impression of Porsche. While the car was very nice overall, I decided to go with the TT. My reason for choosing the to TT, was for the simple reason that it just had a way of putting a smile on my face that the 997S couldn't do - also largely in part to my brother owning a 996tt with a evoms kit
Eventually I plan on buying a 997 down the road (turbo or GT2/3), call me crazy but I plan on keeping my 996tt for sentimental reasons - being my first Porsche and all

Hope that helps you
-Paul

The boost and acceleration of the TT is addictive. The 997 doesn't compare.

I went through he same thing. Went TT and never looked back.
You can't compare the power diff especially with a chip
The 997s is a great car, I just prefer the TT.
Quite a question though, life's a ***** when you have to make those kinds of decisions

I was strongly considering a 997S until I drove a TT. Then it was all over.

Ditto...did the same comparison before I made the plunge. Although I prefer the exterior lines and refined interior of the 997 vs 996, the power difference b/w the "s" and the TT is just in different leagues. The TT always leaves a smile on my face after driving.
