no kitty kat here....tell him another dentist says that these cars are safer than the exploding ford pintos I was driving back in high school....

with bold tires my 996 cab was hydroplaning like no tomorrow in the rain (no PSM or all wheel drive either)

tires are no bald with this behavior - brand spanking new PS2's.

if i could get Goodyear F1 GS-D3's in this size, i bet the car would handle amazing in the rain - i had those on the supra and i could drive through a lake.

I had Goodyear F1 GS-D3's on S4 Audi and agree great rain tire, would put on 996TT in a New York minute if came in correct size. Also agree with other comments about safety of modern turbos...I owned a 1986 911 turbo for thirteen years and it was a completely different handling car. My experience was excessive understeer; unless you lifted near the limit and then snap oversteer. But when you got it right, it was very satisfying. Only thing dangerous about 996TT in my opinion is how fast you put on speed...six to eight seconds and you are going very fast...

Dad used to own an M3, best friend owns a turbo which I drive all the time, other really good friend owns a modded S4 (stage 3 AWD turbo'd car---can be compared to modded 996tt).

the turbo requires MORE skill to get it upset and tailhappy for the most part as far as I am concerned...I have to try much harder to do that than just go "fast" around a track...

Glovebox. I *think* Bose and Nav became standard in '03, but I could be wrong. There was an argument about weight and stiffness, but last I heard, the consensus was that the car didn't change from '01 to '02 in that regard.

Nav was not standard in '03, but Bose was probably. My '03 does not have nav nor the radio with the big screen. It is just a regular (single DIN) size radio. I have read that '03 was the first year they used the MOST fiber optic system for the Bose which basically prevents you from upgrading the stereo without replacing the entire system including all the speakers and wires. Although, if you have the double DIN size radio with the screen (I believe it is called a PCM), you can get the adapter from Denison that lets you connect things like satellite radio, iPod, etc. to the stereo.
