Drag Times Evolution thread (part 2)
Jim, I wouldn't ever put that plate on another car, EVER. Lest the Pennsylvania State Police (and probably the NJ State Police) remember your earlier days.
I'd seriously be tempted to try some single-purpose wheels/tires for this, Jim; although I'm not quite sure Hoosier makes anything that'll fit over Big Reds. Full wrinkles are easier on the driveline (except for the clutch) and the weight difference is astounding.

LOL! Yes, that plate is "special", and probably cursed. Although if I recall correctly, the NJ Troopers never got close enough to properly identify a plate. Thanks for blowing my cover, although I think the statute of limitations has expired on that one thankfully.
A few guys here are running drag radials with a lot of success, and I believe MARKSKI might be running MT slicks. These guys are all pure RWD however, and I shudder to think what it would do to my diff while keeping it AWD. What's Shep running now, slicks on all 4 corners?
Believe me, my clutch can withstand a small nuclear explosion. I know myself well enough now to prepare for things WELL in advance! LOL!
Remember watching Bello pull wheelies back in the day at Atco? Someday...

Bello's car is back in action, from what I've heard. Looks just as sweet as it did when he first started.
Shep is using slicks on all four to run high 7s, I believe they're Hoosiers. DRs are probably not going to help you, since you can't heat them up. Don't forget to drop tire pressure, buddy. :-)
If they didn't catch you, you were never there to do it, remember that.
Glad to hear you're preparing in advance, rather than repairing after the fact. Does your ECM programming allow for a 2-step of any kind, since your clutch is up to it?

Well, sorry to ressurect an old thread, but better than starting a new one.
In what's probably the last time I run my car at the strip (
) I made 8 runs - still on stock K16's. Car ran like a dream today, and I was hitting my 60' times finally thanks to the new Toyo R888's and good track prep. Best 60' was a 1.77, with all others in the 1.8's. 17psi boost. All runs between 11.59-11.77.

Had a blast today and there were actually fast cars at the track for once - lots of Skylines, RX7's, and Supras. Sucks that I can't take my car back to the States with me...

jimmer23, nice times especially on stock K16's. Sounds like you are putting considerable power down. Too bad you can't bring it with you.
On another note, has a 996TT ever cracked 200 mph on the texas mile?

P.S. - More than half a ton.
Thanks guys. Who knows, if I don't manage to sell the sucker by September it could show up in the States at a dragstrip near you, lol.
Marty, I was pulling those short times all day man. It was 80 degrees, and the track was prepped well. I heated up the Toyos before each run with an AWD burnout, and they were at 24psi all around. I think the biggest difference was in the launch - I take back everything I said before about feathering the clutch. All of my runs were done with PSM off and a 4k rpm clutch dump and the car straight hooked. I may go back next weekend if this weather holds. I still think the car has an 11.25 in it...
