Wheel Choices?

I am looking for a high-quality, strong, and stylish wheel. I plan on painting/anodizing the centers grey and either painting the rim or getting it chromed.

Which rim do you like best for a 2004 Atlas Grey 996TT? Plus, what is your experience with any of these brands and/or manufacturers?

Britt,

Your in for it now.. PSS9's, Exhaust, Wheels... body kit... ECU... LOL

I have owned 2 sets of Kinesis and 2 sets of HRE's.. Loved them both... I will say that my current HRE's with chromed lips are the easiest to keep clean. No more polished lips for me.

Painted lips would chip to easy in my opinion. Also the 110's are a one piece wheel... Hard to paint the centers I would think...

I voted for the HRE 546R. I think they look hot. Although, if it were me, I would get the below, that is if they could get their customer service in line............ Same wheel, same manufacturer, simply a different name and much cheaper.

I LIKE THESE AS WELL:

iforged is a knock-off. they are NOT the same manufacturer, and they are NOT the same wheels. HRE makes their own wheels in their own machine shop, which is attached to their Vista building. The attention to detail is terrible on the iforged stuff.

I did not know that, as I know some guys in California who went to the manufacturing plant where they saw stacks of both HRE's and I-forged. I-forged also plainly says they are manufactured by the same place. Could it be just the lips are manufactured by the same place?

Take a look at the SSR GT3 wheel. I saw a set on a 996 this weekend and they looked great. Tirerack has them, but the pictures don't do them justice.

for the money the OZ wheels are a very good deal. not sure if they are as well made as others. but they look nice and are cheap.

I just bought the Avus AF-M02, which i like alot it shows them on the avus website on a 996. Mine are due next week i will post pictures then..

Hey Britt,

Such tought choices to make... Protomotive or GIAC, Bilstein or H&R, 18" or 19", Michelin or Pirelli, Techart or GT2, CF or burl wood... alright not all choices are so tough.

My top choices would be Kinesis or Fikse based on strength and weight. Are you staying with an 18" or moving to a 19"? Those one piece 110's are pretty light for 19" wheels.

K58's aside, I would also consider...

Kinesis K18R...

Kinesis K28R...

Sharp looking, but a bit of an unknown to me... I also like the Avus AF-M02's.

I voted K58...wonder why??? he he.... Britt, if you plan to do any tracking, I would not go with the reverse lip option, unless you will use the stock wheels for that purpose...which is probably a good idea anyways...

Britt, are you going with 18s or 19s? If 19s, which tires? Personally, I recently saw Champion forged, and really liked the clean look. Very light, especially when compared to my solid spoke wheels.

I think 19" for sure. I dont plan on tracking the car much at all. I'm all about styling and street performance.
