Hotwiring a porsche?

I overheard this fellow say he hotwired a Porsche 996 and drove it off for a joyride....

Is this even possible with a computer-coded key? The steering wheel should lock up without the key... If that's true, why don't all cars these days use a computer coded ignition? It would seem like the sensible thing to do.

Had he recently watched Gone in 60 Seconds?

To answer your question, no, it's not possible. Not in the classic "hot wiring" sense, anyway.

In the old days you could pretty easily pop off the under dash of a vehicle and cross the constant power with the ignition and the car would fire right up.
In today's more technologically advanced market, everything is controlled by a computer which won't turn on until activated by a key with a "chip" or a resistor in it.

Yes, it can be done. How do I know this? I've seen it on TV.

Mine was hotwired. But it was a "Porsha", which was cheaper. I bought it the same place i got my "Rollax" watch.
