Hi guys.. New and introducing myself.

Hello ladies and gentlemen. My name is Sean and tuesday I actually turn 20 years old. Kind of weird how I found this site. Well looking at Porsche videos I came across a Gary Javo video where he had a buddy of his racing a Porsche on this forum. So a small link later here I am signing up. Now I don't actually own a Porsche or ever have but I plan to very very soon. A few days ago I had an offer for a 9k mile 944 non turbo which I feel for me is suitable for now but get this for $2000. Yes that cheap. Extremely mint car so not bad for my first Porsche. I've driven the car and it's immaculate which only steers me more to own a Porsche. Only thing blocking my way of owning the car now is that I leave December 11th for the USAF. So eh when I return hopefully in March I will own the Porsche and my motorcycle a ZX-10R. I'm really big into cars and other toys. If the car has an aftermarket I can make it fast. And do pretty well. But have a few questions for the younger 996 owners, how do you afford a car in the mid 30k range without living on the edge? I mean anyone can afford it I did the math and it comes to around for me 500 a month for the payments and 400 for the insurance. 900 a month. To me that is living on edge. Any words of wisdom to steer me from owning a Honda or some other fad? But that's all for now thank you.

Sean, Welcome to the 6 man.. That 944 sounds sweet for only $2K.. If you go to the U.S.A.F. might as well let the dreams of owning these exotics alone for awhile and enjoy traveling while your still young. Not worth getting yourself in over your head at such a young age..Just my senior moment there, it is your choice and good luck with your decision...

US Army E-5 here... you won't make much in the military I assure you. Luckily being in the deployment happy Army I waited until my first deployment to save some money for a home and now this deployment will yield me my p-car. I used my signing bonus to buy my first car back when I got in! The 994 will be great to start!! just wait, the military is a funny beast as you will soon enough learn good sir lol

Welcome- to the 6

Not many young people can afford a 996 on their own, it takes very gracious parents or a very innovative mind.

Thanks for the replys guys. But sorry not to make this known in the first post but not until I have finished my 6 years do I plan to own a 996. But yea I usually work very hard for what I want and am extremely persistent when it comes to wanting to own a P-car.

Make sure you have your life's main priorities in line before you buy something like a 996.
Just because you can afford somebody's asking price doesn't mean you can afford the "car".

+1, the car might have a $2k buy in but one problem can easily cost you $1k+. If you are doing the math and making allowances for insurance etc, make sure you include a repair/parts budget.

Thanks for serving and I would recommend waiting if you are deploying over seas. I am a Commander in the Navy and just returned from a year in Kuwait/S Iraq. I was able to save tons of money (tax free) and now I own my first pcar.

The 944 sounds like a great deal but it won't be the last if that's not what you want. If it is what you want, then get it and you will be happy.

WAIT, and be patient most of us have put our time in waiting to afford the car of our dreams. I was in USMC and spent alot of time deployed no need to have a car while I was gone. Its time to see the world and chase girls now! When you are older and life is more settled the car will mean so much more to you.
Thanks for serving and good luck.

Redridge is a smart guy, get out of the forum!! It is a bad place to be even when the time is right. Can we ban this guy until the time is right? Good luck and be safe out there.
