A thing of beauty... AASCO Lightweight Flywheel

WOOT! UPS came and left not 5 minutes ago...

Great deal at $800 shipped ($750+$50 for 3 day UPS) from Ultrarev.com. Ordered Monday afternoon, in my hands on Wednesday.

Pcar is up on stands waiting on the clutch kit to arrive from Suncoast. Install on Friday and off we go!

This is why I prefer to do any of the maintenance myself that I can. Figure around $600 or so labor for clutch replaced at the dealer which is not much less than the flywheel. Win-win..

Yes, I have heard about the chatter, etc. have driven cars with LWFW's before (last was a '90 300ZX Twin Turbo with a twin plate clutch and Unorthodox LWFW. It was dyno'd at just shy of 425 RWHP and while there was some chatter it was not unbearable by any means). Basically it is a trade off.

Let us know your thoughts.....GMG makes a complete kit LWFW and custom spec'd Sachs clutch that DOES NOT chatter.....I may go this route when I need mine swapped....

I looked into that but it was like $2k or so. My total out of pocket including shipping for all the parts was around $1200. Once I get "used to" the LWFW and need another hit from the HP/performance drug will get a power intake plenum. Total the same as just the GMG kit....

Beautiful piece. Once you go to a single mass flywheel like this, can it be resurfaced?

Yes, but you are getting a stronger clutch with the GMG kit, so it deals with the lighter flywheel better than the OEM clutch....but again, post your thoughts....

Very good point... If I was going to track it I definitely would have gone with a solution like the one you suggested. Basically it is a slightly more than weekend car, occasional drive to places like Big Bend for spirited drive and such.

Will post thoughts on the install and real world opinions in a few days. Good weekend to install with the wife-unit out of town Friday AM thru Sunday PM

Was planning on it but the wife is taking the digital camera with her on a trip. So will have to try the camera in my Treo 700P and see if they come out OK or not..
