Thanks for the replies guys. To clarify, i'm unable to unlock anything with the remote nor can I open the door with the physical key. I'm able to turn it 90 degrees no problem, but nada. If it is a mechanical issue, do I need to get a locksmith of some sort to get the door opened?

I have the same problem. My key does NOT open my door either.

But...since I am lazy and luckily have an underground parking spot, I just leave my car un-armed and under my car cover.

I also have a Porsche battery tender that I use every 3-5 days to make sure the battery doesnt die completely.

I will pay attention to this thread and see if you figure out the problem.

You leave your ride unlocked? Brave boy.....but I guess all those guns you have keep it safe eh....hehe. But then again in Pasadena a Porsche is like a civic...everybody has one eh? In Dallas its like seeing a SCUD missile for some ppl.

damn ray ray,

It sounds like you're F'ed!!!! The poster is a friend of mine and has another problem. He lives in a condo complex with a parking garage. I'm assuming a flat bed won't fit in his parking garage and he can't get into his car so we can push it. What the hell is he going to do about that??

Have you tried disconnecting the battery of the car?

I'll try later if I can even get the hood open. Though if i'm unable to get the door open for the remote to re-synch, it may not be possible. I called my service shop and they can't do anything unless I get the car to the shop.

I'm going to try to find a towing company or locksmith and try to get the car jimmied. Anybody in the San Francisco Bay Area have any recommendations?

On an off topic, does anyone know how much a replacement key costs?

You can open the trunk using its emergency release cable behind the right headlight. Remove the right front wheel liner and reach for it. Hopefully you have small hands since you can't turn the wheel. Here is the link:

If that doesn't work call a car locksmith.

Alright, so I called a towing company Rector Motors uses and the guy at the Towing company said they have jimmied porsches open in the past, but believes they were unsuccessful with later model Porsches such as an '03. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

Thanks!

Not sure if you're looking for "me too's" but being a newbie 2004 cab owner, I just experienced this same thing on Sunday. I was travelling for 8 days, got back and couldn't use key to open door. I jokingly told my wife we had to take the mini-van out on our date and she said "just use the key in the door".

So I did, and the alarm sounded .. and immedatiely turned off with they key. No problems since.

BTW: I did tell her using the key in the door was "my next step" because after all I'm a dude, and a proud Porsche owner :-).

sound like the "paddle" portion of the lock cylinder for the accuator is broken. you need to have to door opened and taken to a dealer so they can do the work- if the alarm is active you for sure want to attempt to disconnect the battery if you cant get the door opened- otherwise the alarm MIGHT be going off on the tow ride to the dealer, plus when the alarm is going off you are unable to open the front trunk lock with the elec switch near the drivers door. You will have to open it as per vik's post- good luck

ps. spare keys to cut are about 25 bucks at a qualified shop- a spare remote is quite a bit more + an hour labor to reprogram

Hi Vik,

I'm going to try getting the trunk open tomorrow morning. Late day at the office today. Sorry about the n00b question, but just to get this straight, if i'm able to open the trunk and access the battery, what would disconnecting and reconnecting the battery accomplish? Will it reset the electronics and security system?

Thanks again!

After reading all the post I can't figure it out. I took an overseas trip for 6 weeks, came back and used the remote to open the car with no problem. Was I lucky or what!
