Is it easy to install? I have a nice toolset and a good with tools, just don't know how detailed this install is.

I can't wait to punch it above 4k and hear it grawl.

I already have the PSE installed.

Let us know what happens after you install the Air Intake. I installed a performance exhaust system and was looking at the same exact Air Intake. thanks..Some people also quoted that with a performance exhaust and intake there is a significance sound upgrade. True/not true??

The improvement in sound rather than acceleration is more noticeable. Would suggest getting the plenum as well. My butt dyno feels a slight improvement. If you do a serarch, others have posted dyno results. Smoother, and definitely music to my ears at WOT!

If you live in O.C maybe you can come and check out mine. Also, I can help you with installation.

You will notice a bit of a diffference but you may end buying maf sensors as well. K&N does not have a great rep with Porsche and the maf failure issue has been widely discussed on all the boards. You are better off going the BMC route as it is a cotton/silk combo and has no oil. Check out the EVO system as well but it is more money. GL>

forgive my ignorance...but are we talking about a K&N replacement filter OR an open intake kit?

There have been posts, both here & on renntech about oil contamination of the MAS. All I know is I have had my K&N for about 7,000 miles now with NO issues whatsoever. I ran one on a Vette for about 40,000 miles with no issues. No water ingestion either. You will love the sound & will feel a slight performance improvement. my 2 cents

just clean the filter element with paper (I used newspaper) before installing it. the filter needs a bit of oil but not too much.. GL

I used an AEM Dryfilter part number AEM 21-2059DK to prevent oil spoiling the MAF. No isses with MAF. I did have to reinstall the OEM airbox for smog. Will run like that until K&N gets CARB approval.
Overall, you should be happy with the unit.

And follow the directions to reset the computer by disconnecting the battery. I have had mine for almost 10K miles with no problems driving in any weather and with the plenum (and my GHL muffs) it packs quite a punch.

As of lately, K&N has been going to great lengths to rebut the assertion that their filters have been fouling Mafs on various cars. Whether they do or not I am not qualified to say, but if their data is valid, it produces some pretty persuasive results. Below I have listed the links to their various tests and results posted on their website in which they claim that their filters do not in fact foul mafs, and that a fouled maf diagnosis is often fallacious. Allegedly they claim that they will foot the bill if a Maf can be proven to have been fouled by their filter. Whether anyone has ever taken them up on this again I don't know.

The cheapest I have found them consistently is at http://www.autoanything.com/air-inta...0A2611664.aspx for 248 shipped. I hope that this is not breaking the rules as I am not affiliated with that site in any way, just want my fellow 6speeders to get the best price on their purchases.

Just installed my K&N for approximately a week and so far no problems and sounds great above 4k rpm. I still think the design is pretty ghetto as I need to drill 3 holes to install a simple design CAI. I think a big company like K&N should have designed this CAI thing better...

i agree, i ordered it online, got the package,

opened it up and come to see a bag of screws, nuts bolts, like around 50-60 pieces. Then i read the manual and it had too many steps for a simple CAI.
I put the rubber around the cage, and it looked too cheesey.
I had the factory setup next to me on the floor, and i kept looking at how nicely it has been done by Porsche, why stick something in there that doesn't look right,
I said screw the engine roar after 4k. Mine already sounds good with the factory.
Boxed it up and sent back for full refund.

If i ever get one, it has to be the well designed one from the other company( forgot the name).
