How to Retro Fit Oem Turbo Rear Bumper on a Narrow Body
Hey guys. I know this has been done before on narrow body cars. I know Newport 996 has done it and I'm sure some others. What I need to know is how do the Body Shops Mod the larger turbo Oem bumper to fit narrow body cars?
Thanks, Russ
Thanks, Russ
I went with the Anziano's bumper. Unlike some of the other ****ty turbo rear bumper replicas, the anziano's is actually an exact copy of the real one done in fiberglass.

I don't think Don modded his. That's why his fits a little weird. You still have to deal with rerouting the exhaust tips too. Seems like more of a pain in the *** than it's worth.

I think the reroute is pretty simple as it takes about 30 minutes at a muffler shop, OR get the C4S extension pipes. The Anziano bumper looks good...BUT I hate fiberglass as my last one was, and in a slow rear end tap, it cracked in half....that was WITH the bumperettes.....it also started to ripple after a few years.....I was glad I was rear ended so I could get th OEM, and it looks great...also with the OEM, its actually wider than stock....so you get that C4S look from the back....
Don't get me wrong, I like the look of OEM. However, between the cost of the conversion, the exhaust re routing, and the cost of an oem bumper, it's a little steep and more complicated than I prefer. Not to mention you have to find a body shop that's better than average to pull it off properly. Yours looks great though.
I think you'll have to admit there are different grades of fiberglass. Some are better than others. Also, if it's more than a slight bump in the rear, we're both going back to the body shop regardless of what the bumper is made of to fix the paint damage

You get all the lucky breaks. Guess that's a benny of living in CA. All the great bodywork people and tuners are there. If I remember right, you have that great exhaust tip hookup too. I guarantee if I asked a shop here to do that, they would have probably charged double due to the experimentation involved to get it right. For $1200, that's a good deal. Hopefully your bumper doesn't break in half though

Hmmm. I had only seen the mod where they split it down the middle. Seems a little sketchy. That sounds like a much better way of doing it.
The wing is gone. One of the forum members on here is running around with it. You snooze, you lose
I did give you first dibs though.
Thanks again for the tip on TA wing. I'm still loving it. I think I can get at least a couple more years of enjoyment out of the car from the wing install alone
