Newb looking for rims & Q's!

Hi everybody!
I'm totally new to this forum and hope to get to know you guys in the near future!
Actually I'm pretty new to the "P-mobile" in general as I just bought my first 996 a few weeks ago (and LOVING it mind you). I have been surfing around the net for information and stumbled upon this forum which looks to be one of the better ones.
Now I have a few questions from a total newb:

1. I'm looking for a set of wheels. I'm leaning towards black spokes with a deep dish chrome lip. My local shop recommended Vellano's. I can't seem to find much information for that company on the net, what do you guys think? Are there better companies or better values out there? It's super hard to find a nice used set here... Also the BBS LMs looks to be fairly popular but then I don't want something that is too common ya know?

2. So I been reading some threads here and members are mentioning widebody vs narrowbody for rims with deep dishes? Getting a deepdish for a NB is ugly or frowned upon? So um .. is there a seperate design for the Narrowbody and the Widebody? (I'm so new at this and I feel like an idiot already) ... so the 'S' comes in widebody and the 'non-S' doesn't? or is it the Turbo edition? .. or is it a bodykit mod? ... I'm somewhat confused and don't know where to look can somebody clarify for me?

That's the car I want to eventually move up to! Hehe right now it's just a bone stock 996 C2 Cab, well it's already lowered, and I have more plans for it in the near future once I get more familiar with it. I've played around with a Honda SiR (heavily, heavily modded) and Lexus IS300 before. Still don't know much about Porsches, the WB or NB ..

Also what would be the proper (good) offset and sizes? If I was to get 19" rims? Then it would be easier to look for used ones too ... pretty rare though ..

I live in Vancouver and so far I've already seen 2 sets of LMs on 911's. A silver and a black one. Comparing that to the ratio of any other 911's in my area that even have aftermarket wheels (barely any) that's pretty high already.

Well a local shop I dropped in to ask about rims in general recommended Vellano saying they are pretty good quality for the price? Can you be a little bit more detailed & specific to help me out? How and Why is it crap? Poor quality? Overpriced? No-name?

Anymore input would be appreciated!

Also I can't really catch your meaning behind the LMs comment. Do you mean it's not good for the 911 or are enquiring about how many I've seen rolling in them? O_o

Also it would be great if somebody helped me out on the 2nd question in my original post.

My wheels would be perfect for your car. We could meet halfway (since I'm in Seattle) and you could bring 'em back home.

The difference in quality and weight between Vellanos and the O.Z. is not even funny.

I just sold my SSRs and got a set of 19 HREs on 6. HRE is definietly one of the best if not the best, The rears have a 3inch lip, also the Techarts are very good, You have to be paitient and they do come up on 6, There is alot more for the TTs and C4s with 11.5 and 12s but as I said some really nice ones come up for narrow bodies but you have to be paitient. The best part is the price, you can get a nice set for 3 to 4K with tires. Here is what I got

Vellanos? Your shop recommended that? Do you like your shop?
Basically, if you can put a 997 NB stock wheel/tires 19's and they would look great on the 996.
The specs are 235/8.5-19 offset @45, 295/11-19 offset@67
Look at the wheel vendors on the right, they will give you good suggestions.

I've only been to the shop once so there isn't any kind of loyalty heh. Why are the Vellano's not that great?
I wanted black rims otherwise I did look at the 997 rims heh thanks tho!

If you are in the market for wheels, the most important factor is the offset. You cannot run turbo / C4S offset as those are for wb.

I am currently running on 18x10 with 50 offset for the rear (with 285/30/18). This is the absolute max you can push the rear wheels out without the tires rubbing on the fender. I believe the stock offset is 65.

I do not have experience with 19s so I do not know if the offset would be different for that diameter.
