Help Please, My wheels are rubbing.

Am I totaly screwed? Just purchased a set of HREs from a fellow 6speeder and they are from his 04 narrowbody, I put them on my 02, they are 19's and today I noticed when I turn the wheel all the way to the left or all the way to the right the tires are rubbing I think on the plastic surface of the wheel well. I am so depressed, can't go back to the guys that put on the wheels for me until Monday, so I am wondering how could that be possible? Is my car different than 04? Is it tire size? Wheel width or what. Any answers or thoughts would be appreciated.

why bother taking it back to the installer? two left thumbs? time to bust out the heat gun and do some reshaping of your plastic fenders. nothing to get depressed about. take a chill pill. figure it out.

Dont sweat it, I take it that it only rubs when it is at full lock...just take it easy when you park. Its only the plastic lining.

+1 heat gun + gloves then heat up the wheel well and roll the fenders yourself. you've got nothing to loose and its easy to do

+2 heat gun + gloves then heat up the wheel well and roll the fenders yourself. Or you can go to a shop where they use fender rollers.

Thumbs up Raw mean

Dude. Chill. Seriously.

I missed those great SSR you had for $1500.00 (thats a steal by the way)

What they mean is,...

1. get a heat gun (from the hardware store)

2. take the front wheels off (one at a time)

3. Look to see where to tire is rubbing (inside the wheel well)

4. Heat up the plastic inner liner (wear gloves and dont heat too long in one place)

5. Using the gloves "roll" your hand in the heated area. You want to reshape the plastic in the wheel well to give you a little more clearance.

Please note: Do Not rub your hand in the wheel well and heat at the same time. You could burn your hand. (sorry, I couldnt resist)

Have fun. Not a huge deal.

After you are done you can call your Porsche "CUSTOM"

Jason

Spacers will more than likely fix the rubbing problem and you don't have to heat nothing up.

no one's asked where it's rubbing whether on the inside/outside or both.

I'm pretty sure that he means on the inside of the wheel well at the front of the well. I have the same thing happening at full lock. It hasn't been a problem at all for me. I rarely have the wheels at full lock one way or the other.

I think i might try the heat gun trick though...

Taking it to California concepts. Will let you know how it turns out. Thanks everyone, as long as I don't have to let my HREs go, I am good.
