Need a new radar detector

In the market for a V1. What's the latest version as I've seen a couple for sale new/used? Any options that you see as a must? Finally, who has the best pricing/service? Valentine themselves? Thanks

Go to www.valentine1.com. I'd imagine they list the latest version number there. To buy one new, I believe you can only get it from their website. If you buy a used one and want to upgrade it to the latest version, they offer that service on the site.

Yeah I found the version 1.8 but I didn't know if there were any distributors outside of them.

They are the only retail distributor. If you buy one on the web, like ebay, you can check the serial number on their site. It will tell you the version and if it needs an upgrade, how much.

sounds like you are buying a V1. However, there is a new version of the Escort 8500 out.

Seems like 75% or better choose the V1. I can't see how you can beat the directionals.

Hey pieball, one of the guys in my convoy to the last Pocono event had a Passport 8500. We had Talkabouts and were comparing when we got alerts. My V1 went off much earlier than the 8500 all the time. I highly recommend the remote display. You can check out my set-up at the next event.

Pieball,
My vote V1 - It saved me about three or four times on my drive to & from Key West! I would have been done without it!
I just got it about a month ago and it has paid for itself already
