Please a little "wheel help" pick from the fine folks on the 6

I have learned a great deal from my short time on the 6 and wondered if you guys would be kind enough to give me your opinion on what wheels I should put on my car. I love the ones I have but they are too heavy for my track days.

Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

What's the wheel of choice?

The wheels on your car are sick and in my like mind for rolling the streets. I used to roll your streets in dallas i might add. So your taste is wonderful. For a racing wheel (track days) BBS, VOLK, kenesis, etc. Also depends WHERE you track your car. I assume motorsport ranch since your in dallas?
I would roll RACE specific wheels only when your on the track. That way you can use toyo ra1 or other r rated compound and still be able to drive the wonderful TX road in baller status. My 2 cents

Volk TE37s are the lightest wheels I can find for 996 at 17 lbs front and 19 lbs rear. Champion Monolight RG5 are also light and just a couple more lbs over the TE37.

Do you track your car with all that audio system in?

A "hot wheel" right now is the HRE P40 however it's not available in 18" Their Competition line comes with 18" as an option. As you probably know, the finish is customizable. Good luck.

From what I read, Alot of clubs wont let you track with HRE's, they are cracking failing extreme stress.

for track and a great bargain, stick with track proven brands

Ahhhhh....price should not be an object.....you see the money that's already been put in that car.
IMHO....chrome has no place on a sports car-performance wheel.......polished or polished-cleared yields similer look.....stronger wheel, still plenty of bling......just my opin.

I like but don't feel the BBS LM for this car.

I am not too constrained to a budget in any way. I hear you on the chrome issue but do like the old school look of these turbo 993 wheels. I guess my biggest issue is the fact that you just don't see these on cars around town.

I like the just about everything in the HRE line but have had a few friends say they would have made other choices. I drive fairly spirited and admittedly have my moments of retardation. I would like to avoid replacing rims that a few have felt bend too easily.

Any of you guys have opinions on the Forgeline products. I have never owned them but like the price and straight forward nature of the pricing and availability on their website.

LowStro......agree on the turbo 993 wheels........but back on the chrome....it's just not necessary........any good light alloy can be polished to near-mirror........then left (for some weekly upkeep with NeverDul)....or ether cleared or powder coated (not quite a shiney).
Check out these OZ Italian light alloys on this 993........look like chome?......not.
Good luck to ya.......I'd like to see your car 'when it's finished' .......just kidding of course....like what you've done so far.

Your car is one of the nicest looking Porsches I've seen, the style of wheel you have looks great, I would try to find a lighter wheel that looks similar to what you have.
