Cab-Hard Top - How to clean rear window?

Hello:

I have the Hard Top off the 99 C2 and have been trying to figure out how to clean deep down inside between the rear deck and window (inside).

I have to think that there is an easy way to do this - removing the rear deck or something but I cannot find a way to snap the rear deck out.

Any suggestions - HELP!

Not sure if I completely understand ‘where’ you’re trying to clean, but think it’s the area where the top is stored when it’s in the open position. So here’s my answer for that difficult area when I decide to do a total cleaning detail. It’s done with the roof open at various stages. First at 25% closed, where I can access in and around the top storage area from the outside, then 50% closed/open to access deeper still, get the rear window from the inside quite easily, along with the area between the rear seats and rear edge of the top, finally at 75% closed it’s easy to clean up, vacuum, etc the rest of the area where the top is stored.
Anywhere between 50 & 75% closed, you can also lift the rear edge of the top to access the storage area. I strongly suggest you do this task with a second person as it’s quite heavy and awkward to lift AND get a vacuum nozzle in there without marring the paint if you do it by yourself.
I hope this is the info you’re looking for.

Hello Saintly:

Thansk for the information but I am actually talking about the glass window on the Hard Top. The area that is in the lower section nearest the base is so cramped that you really cannot fit your hand down there for cleaning.

My hope is that the rear deck that is attached to the Hard Top can easily be removed someway.

That is my quest. But excellent explanation on how to clean in that area where the Soft Top is stored. I'll certainly try that too.

Any thoughts on how to clean the inside glass window?

Thanks,

the rear glass of the hardtop has NO attachments whatsoever. It is just a top that goes over your "open" top. The only way I guess to really clean is to remove the hardtop. I cant imagine it is that "dirty" in there....I have my hardtop on my car for the "winter" but I live in So Cal so its only an excuse to use my hardtop....and I just flip the seats over, climb on back there and wipe away...

or you can use one of these

Now that I’m clear on your question … J … you’re right, it is a difficult area to clean.
There is no way to remove the rear deck of the hard-top, whether it’s on the car or off. It’s a permanent part of the entire hard-top and part of its structural design. I use the same thing “Asian Image” has suggested. It’s a great solution for tough to reach corners and edges of rear glass and windshields too.
You can pick up similar items at other Auto Accessory Web-Sites, and I’ve seen them at either Bed, Bath & Beyond or similar stores – I just forget where – sorry.
