anyone have trouble with warm starts?

I have a 2004 C2 coupe. Evry once in a a while after getting gas or turning off the car, running into the mac machine and then starting up a minute after, the engine will not start on the first try. Should I be alarmed, or does this occur once in a while?

Also, while at a stop light, I thought I heard and felt a weird knock. the car seemed to drive fine, but I was on my home, so I had no where to run it up.

This is my first P-car, so I am still new to the game. Thanks.

Mine does the same thing - sometimes after I fill up with gas. When I turn it over the second time, I give it a little gas. The valves rattle for a second, then it starts up. Weird...

I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to be a 'feature' of the 996. Why don't you have the dealer check it out? It's still under warranty, right?

I have a 2003 with a similar problem. When the engine is hot, I can blip the throttle in neutral and get a quick knock sound like detonation. It also does it occasionally when hot at start-up. I took it in to the dealer but they found nothing wrong.

So I called the dealer. They told me that I should wait to see if it happens more frequently. They feel with the amount of times it happened the course, chances are it is nothing, and I wouldn't be able to repeat the problem for the service tech.

Keep a log with you in the car. Record every time this happens and the conditions; the temp, how long you've been driving, the mileage, time of day, etc. That way you can give the dealer something to work with other than "well, once in a while it does this."
