Question Wheel Cap removal Q...

Hi everyone - Santa Claus delivered a new set of 4 OEM coloured crest wheel caps and now I'd like to get them on!

Q. Assuming that do not have local access to the "Genuine Porsche Wheel Cap Removing Tool", how does one safely remove the older faded ones without breaking the cap, the cap retention teeth, or scratching the wheels?

Some of the older crests are in okay condition, so ideally I'd like to preserve a couple as spares, or for donation to fellow p-car clubbers with split, faded, or beat up ones.

use an allen wrench (the "L" shape type)... stick one small enough through the hole on the wheel cap and pull!

I use a small flathead screw driver and then an old credit card to pry it out, be careful and go slow.

You can make your own tool using a coat hanger and something to bend it in shape for you!

12" piece, fold in half bend each end (1/2 inch) in the same direction like little feet...

Easy...

1. Remove lug nuts
2. Remove wheel.
3. Push out center cap from the inside.
4. Be careful and go slow, so as not to break the little plastic clasps.
5. Remount wheel.
6. Proceed to next wheel.
7. You will have to do this procedure 4 times, so don't lose track.
8. Hope that helps!!!

As long as the wheels are off, wash the insides of them out too.
