2002+ 996 coupe weight
Mine is at 3090 lbs.
2002 C2 Coupe, 6sp, ltwt factory 18's, spare removed, factory sport seats, factory sound system, X74 suspension, 1/4 tank, PSE exhaust, everthing loose taken out. The car feels very light on its feet, especially after the X74 and the short shifter installs.

2910 is the list weight for a 2002 C2. This is one of the prime reasons I went with a C2 instead of a C4S. The other reason, more horsepower at the wheels due to less drivetrain loss. Pull off the cats & get a lightweight battery & you've got a 2800 pound car!!

My 02 996 brochure and owner's manual list C2 coupe weight at 2965. I think the earlier 996 C2's (99-01) were listed at 2910. The 02+ are slightly heavier. My understanding is that these listed weights are factory "dry weight" which is without options, without sunroof and without fluids. I'd be surprised if any year stock 996 was under 3000lbs. in the real world.
Keeping the car's weight down is important to me for improved performance, fuel mileage and handling. My car is low optioned which helps but I'm stopping short at ripping the interior apart/out. Taking the spare out for local driving is ok for me. I weighed it with the tool kit included and it weighed 30 pounds. A lightweight battery and exhaust would help too, I'm guessing 50 pounds if one did both, but I haven't gone that far either.

lamescarrera.....how do you like the X74? Not meaning to hijack this thread, but I had to ask. I ended up picking up a set of X74 myself to replace the RoW I got from you...haven't bolted it up yet though. Nice to see you posting.
BK12, wow you already replaced the ROW with the X74?!? You did just what I did. I wish I had just bought the X74 in the first place. I love it, it looks a lot better. The stance of the car is perfect now and it's not so low that it rubs much as long as I'm careful. The handling is much better, super-tight and flat. It barely leans at all now. It is pretty stiff though. For me, if it was a daily driver it would be too stiff. In a word, fantastic!
Racerjsz, how did you get it to be so light? Did you rip out lots of interior parts, Optima battery, lightweight aftermarket exhaust? Just curious.
According to Porsche '02s are 55 lbs heavier. Not sure who told you "hundreds of pounds" but that's just not true.
