They were great. I think they are much better the the Pirelli's I've had.

I had the kumho escta 712s years back. I didnt like them, wet traction was blah. Dry traction was blah. Just overall an average tire at a good price. On the flip side the Kumho MX my friend has swears by them.

The 712 was never a great tire by comparison to the SPT (It's replacement) and the MX. People complained the sidewalls were too soft, and they DID get unbearably loud. For ultimate dry grip, the MX will hold it's own any day against more expensive tires.

I'm anxoius to get some P-car feedback on the Sumitomo HTRZ III. Being in the Dunlop family I'm sure will rub off on it. For heavier horsepower, rear wheel drive cars I sell more of them than Kumho anymore....

712 is really old tire that has been discontinued.
SPT is the best performance tires i've used in the rain and the dry traction is good considering it's 330 wear rating. The best bang for the buck value IMO.
MX's are fairly sticky in the dry but I not so good in the rain.

I was in the same boat as you, I struggled to pick up a C4S last Oct and had to get new tires. Try eBay. I got two brand new PS2s 295/30/19 for $500 shipped. (Yes the OD is an 1" taller..)

Damon, does the HTRZ III have a very vertical/flat side profile like the HTRZ IIs? I have the HTRZ IIs on my Boxster but due to the flat profile, the tires look very narrow. I'd like to try the HTRZ IIIs if indeed the profile buldges out a bit making it appear as a bigger/fuller tire.

I've used both Bridgesone S02 pole positions & Michelin pilot sport ps2's. Performance is great on both, but the ps2's are a little more quiet. Your rubber is the only thing between you and the road. I don't mind spending here to get the best.

Interesting. I just replaced my PS2s with RE050s. The Bridgestones are definitely less noisy and more sticky in the wet than the PS2s IMO.

I have the SPT Kumhos on my S4. Surprisingly good tire wet and dry. I'm totally pleased with them.

The MX was a good dry tire but sucked in the rain.
