to determine if this is a good deal, you got to do your research, cars.com, autotrader.com, craigslist and as a wild card, eBay. thorough perusal of these sites should give you an ideal of how this car stacks up to others out there. generally speaking, west coast cars seem a tad bit higher than east coast cars. good luck
sahbaz bhai,
the price sounds good. but check out the car.

Run a Carfax on the VIN to make sure it was never a Uboat in the hurricane belt of southern states - submergence may be hard for a dealer to discern unless they are looking for it. Presenting the car to a dealer to complete a full inspection costs about $500, and is wise and well worth it. You are doing the right thing there. If it is a good dealer, they will test and measure the condition of everything, right down to the 12volt cigarette lighter and will give you a 4 or 5 page report on the status of everything and any recommendations (ie. 1/8 front brake pads need replacing, needs 50000 service and wipers or whatever). You may well find that you need to inject a few gees into the car in order to get it into the trouble free condition you will want. Trouble free is always the best way to start your Porsche adventure. Good luck!
Remember, at 53K miles the car is not too far from getting major service at 60K. Also, check the clutch. I always like to have them check the body/frame, suspension for any red flags. There were some cases happenned to 6speed members regarding PPI and later found out that the dealer did not fully inspected the car and overlooked major frame damage, bad tranny. You also need to be on top the whole PPI with dealer by suggesting them to look in every section of the car. I rather pay a little more for it then found out later the car is lemon.

That's for you to work out with seller. Likely it will be you, since providing due dilligence is not a selling requirement. In my case, I paid inspection, reviewed the data, bought the car, and then immediately put a few more gees into it before it left dealer.
I'm not sure about the price of a Tip going forward, but either way you're going to take a bit of a loss (have to think you've just about hit bottom on depreciation at that price) if you decide to sell anytime soon, or it just may be a little bit harder to unload. If you like it, make sure it's completely checked out and you can verify its history. If not, you may want to pass as there are a TON of deals out there in this economy for 996's.
On a side note, I'm seeing a A LOT of Cab's coming up from dealers and private party on AutoTrader and honestly they are right around the same price as a coupe, so you can definitely find a comparable vehicle out there.

Make some sort of a deal with the seller re: PPI. When I had one done on a pcar I was interested in, I told the seller if I didn't buy the car I would pay for the inspection.
Turned out the car had numerous defects. I paid a couple of hundred $ but it's better than buying a lemon.
And don't forget to purchase an extended warranty.

Have it checked out if you haven't already by another mechanic or Porsche Dealer. I purchased my first Porsche and two weeks later ended up with $5,000 of repairs that did not get covered by the aftermarket warranty because they said they were pre-existing conditions! (long, very frustrating story - ended up pursuing action and did get reimbursed by the dealer). You get what you pay for - this seems really low price? I only buy with Certified Pre-owned warranty from a dealer now that will stand behind their work. I am no expert on this sort of stuff, but have learned the hard way more than once! These are expensive cars to repair.
