Challenging Drivers

Challenging Drivers

Perhaps you have experienced this too, you are just driving down the road and suddenly the driver behind you decides to run upon you rather aggressively. Or a driver along side of you decides to cut you off for no real reason.

Since you are in a Porsche they must think that you must either challenge them to a race or park it. I get the feeling that the other driver must be extremely jealous or just a nut case. Or both...

I only noticed this since I’ve been driving the Porsche. Could this just be only in my mind? Just wondering if you see this too.

it's not just you. porsches evoke emotional responses. not just negative ones though. along with the angry, aggressive folks, i also get double takes and big smiles and thumbs ups.

Right on, if I am going to chance a speeding ticket it better be a worthy opponent. LOL!

But more disturbing is the pure stupidity / arrogance of that type person. I can’t imagine how this might be for the guys in a $200k Lambo. Wow! Kind of makes me glad that I can’t afford one.

Cool

I guess that in the area I live in, Porsches are so common, that they go unnoticed.

It is the Ferrari's and Lambos that get challenged.

I get STI and EVO pull up to my side, brake to match my speed and rev the crap out of their engines very often! I have never raced any of them simply because I do not like to race on the streets and they have a very good chance of smoking me.

Sometimes I rev back and let them take off by themselfs while I stay back and watch them get pulled over.

....Good idea. Let them speed off, win the race and get the prize (I mean Ticket) at the end! LOL! I like it...

But in the OC there are so many nice cars it seems that the 911 blends in perfectly. That is car centeral especially around Newport, what a town.

In fact I saw my first and only Carrera GT in the street in Newport back when they first came out. (What a sweet sounding car)....Of course I challenged him in my rental car!! NOT!

I think every STI and EVO driver is required to try and race every sports car they encounter...
the best though is the guy in the Lancer 'Rally edition' or whatever it is with what... maybe 150HP... they ALWAYS rev on me.

This morning's commute: challenged by a Dodge Charger Super Bee edition, and a WRX, not even the STi version. I just let 'em go. Want to get to work safely. Nothing like a ticket or accident to mess up your day.

If I'm going to play on the hwy, I prefer to at least do it with someone in a similar classed vehicle. My assumption being that they know a little about their car, how to drive fast responsibly and that they have a little more value on the line. I'm not going to follow or lead someone in a tricked out Civic into a corner and have them wreck or hit me. With someone in a Ferrari, Mercedes, Corvette (sometimes), or another Porsche I feel like there is some kind of mutual respect and even comraderie in running together. That's a lot more fun and less risky than going against some punk attitude.

I've noticed that too. It's like clockwork. Got STI or Evo with lots of stickers, rev motor when you go by, check. I have nothing to prove so I just laugh and move on. It's not worth the ticket.

I'm not saying those cars aren't fast. I'm just not interested in them hitting me or others in the process of them proving their manhood.

I think that is the issue. I like some spirited driving just for the enjoyment of it. I'm not looking to get into a competition on public roads. When someone with one of the fast, but less expensive - less established, cars comes upon a Porsche they seem to think they have to prove their car is worthy.
