Installed 07 997 GT3 shifter into my 996

well today i had the latest 997 GT3 stock shifter installed into my 03 996 and it is as smooth as butter. $220 from the dealer for the shifter and $250 to install at an indy. I thought I had a ssk in my car but it turned out to be the factory 996 stock shifter. They guy who had the car b4 me had adjusted the molasses out of it along with some cable nuttiness that mad it shift like a crappy ssk.

I'll bet that was an EZ $250 the indy pocketed for less than an hour work.

i havent tried the B&M ssk, but keep in mind i installed the stock shifter for the 997 GT3. Not a ssk. I read on rennlist that the stock shifter for the 997 is smoother and has a shorter throw than the stock shifter for the 996.

How does it compare to the stock? Is the throw actually shorter, and by how much do you think? Any drawbacks?

hey erik apparently my stock shifter was installed incorrectly or tweaked to such a state that it felt like a ssk. so i can't really compare the gt3 shifter to a stock shifter for a 996. but from what i read on rennlist the gt3 is said to be loads smoother and just a bit shorter throw wise.
