I was also told the internals were not included in the newer remote heads so I just ordered a regular remote head. Damn it, wish I just ordered the newer one in the first place. SO it also came with a program code? BTW, theres a guy over at rennlist forum thats looking for a key and remote, might want to try to PM him.

Well, now you have two just like me. Welcome to the club! My dealer just coded the new transmitter with the existing car key that I have. By the way, they do need to have the car there.

I have the CGT head on one of my keys, it did not come with internals (ebay buy, new in box item).
I bought a new 2-button key on ebay as well, and it came with an ID tag. Any key you buy MUST come with the ID tag or it's either going to be worthless or cost you 2x as much to have it programmed (I think the dealer can read the ID from your old key, not sure).

I had the key cut at Santa Monica Lock and Key for $20. Beverly Hills PORSCHE programmed it for $50, took 15 mins.

Thats the best price I have heard to program the remote in Socal. DO you have a contact you can share? Also, I thought only Porsche dealer can program the car, is Beverly HIlls BMW affiliated with a Porsche dealer? Thanks

OMG- What a major typo on my part . I had just gotten off the phone with Bev Hills BMW to bring our X3 in for service... so I totally fat-brained that one. Apologies!!

I meant Beverly Hills Porsche. I spoke with Eric one of the service agents and he set me up. I think I caught them on a good day, not busy. The place was pretty dead and Eric just took me over to the service bay and told the guys to hook up my car. Oh, they also enabled my drive-off door locking, no extra charge. It was a good experience

Key update. it's all done now
called around a few shopes. most acted like they didnt want the business
called hergesheimer in lake forest. Said no problem just bring her in.
charged 48$ and it was done in about 20 minutes. printed out a bunch of codes for my car.
gave my son a porsche key chain. great folks. ill be taking my car their for service.
getting the key cut was a little pain though. called a few shops and they didnt cut that type of high security key.
Called one shop in el toro and over the phone they said 30$ ea? i though was high but?
got their and they changed their tune saying they charge 75$ a blade for that type of key.
left their and made a few phone calls.
went to curlies lock smith in pomona cut both keys for 30$ in about 5 minutes.
i think it was about 150$ for two blanks a two button remote and 1 key head with out the remote. the key head will open door and start car but has no remote functions. then 48$ for program and 30$ to have the blades cut.
roughly 230$ for all.
not bad
thanks for all in input

isn't this great.....anywhere from $50 to $230 for a simple key. What next $4.00 premium gas.
