Clutch "click"

I understand the "click" when you reach the very end of the clutch being depressed is normal, but it's driving me slightly batty . I never had this in any of the numerous cars I've driven in either the US or UK. To make matters worse, there's a clutch squeek. So every time I change gears, its "squeek, click, click, squeek"!!! Can anything be done?

Thanks,
M

I can't help with the click, since that's normal and due to the activator switch on either end of the pedal travel. I had the squeek too and a little spray from WD40 on the pedal hinge and the piston shaft eliminate the problem. If the click-click bothers you, turn your radio up. that's what I did. ; )

OK, I'm guessing the WD40 thing is something that cannot be done from inside the cabin? As you can guess, I'm not very handy with my own car repairs. I have to visit the dealer for something else so maybe they can quickly take care of this.

I went to the dealer for the clickity-click. They say is normal.
Grab a can of WD40 and get under the dash of your car. with your fingers, follow the pedal towards the pivot part at the top. Spray a little there, then, look for the piston looking part that goes to the firewall (from the same position, you will see) and spray there too. It helps if you press the pedal with your hand while doing it. Lightly spray...

If you shift fast enough, you can time the click with a snick.

The click is the activator switch which cannot be help. The squeeking sound is the clutch pressure spring. I all together removed the whole thing to make the clutch stiffer. Best free mod I'll done. There's a thread on rennlist.

Just stop short of the click...you don't have to depress the clutch all the way to the back to be fully engaged.
