Hi guys

I'm really clueless when it comes to electronics so just wondering which prong on relays 20 and 22 did you tap for ground? I tried tapping 86 and ended up blowing the fuses. I would like to get this done for my turbocharged 986 project, thanks in advanced!

 

I believe you need to ground on relay #85. Just stick a wire in the slot for relay #85 and ground it through your switch. You should do a search for this "Cooling Mod". You can also try on Rennlist as many did this as well, including me. Good luck!

I've actually searched for it and got as far as knowing that I'm supposed to ground the ground of the 2 relays. Problem is that I couldn't figure out which slot is the ground slot

 

The mod consists of installing a switch that will allow you to turn on the high speed radiator fans at any time, while maintaining the automatic operation of the fans. We do the same for the engine compartment fan.

Radiator Fans

Connect a wire to the ground of the 2 high speed fan relays located on the relay carrier located in the driver’s side foot well. The relays are #20 and #22. Feed this wire to where your switch will be located. Connect the wire to one side of the switch. Connect another wire from the other contact on the switch and then connect the other end of this wire to a chassis ground point.

With key on, this switch will now immediately turn on both radiator fans providing maximum cooling. When you turn the key off, the fans will continue to run for about 5 seconds until the relay shuts down. Your fan operation remains normal when the switch is off.

Thank you LowStro, however it wasn't that part of the problem that I couldn't figure out, it was which slot on the relays did I have to use for the ground. Just for reference for future p-car folks

Terminal 30-12V constant(unswitched voltage). Wire directly to battery positive post.

Terminal 87-This is relay output(load).Wire directly to the fuel pump positive post.

Terminal 85 & 86 these are the control side of the relay. 85 slot in this case is the control ground slot. I put it into the 86 slot and fried a couple fuses
