Kenwood Touchscreen Nav/DVD/CD Install....

My first mod on my C4 Cab, I installed the Kenwood 7015 Deck which is a touchscreen, double din unit that plays CDs/MP3s/DVDs/and controls the Navigation module...Install was not too bad, had to move A/C controls to the bottom, $9 bracket from dealer. The cut the dash to open up a nearly perfect double din space....Now the speakers and amp....Anyone knw where I can get a sub in this car? Passenger footwell? Wanna keep my back seats.

I have the exact unit installed in my car. I put the sub in the passanger foot well. Custom box made and than carpeted with the factory carpet to match. The sub will sound better with it mounted there rather than behind you. You do loose about 3 inches of floor space on the passanger side. No issue for me though. You can call Rawlings Audio and speak to Jamey. He did all my work. The workmanship is perfect. He is located in Pasidena. 626 372-0744.

Newport, Did you install the horseshoe around the shifter ? I am having trouble with mine, and yours looks to fit quite well.

No...it's attached to the boot...Came that way. I think some of the shifters come with the aluminum horseshoe...If you get just the shoe, I would get the one attached to the boot already, instead of just glueing it to the leather.

Nice install Newport.. I have the Alpine 7" monitor and seperate head unit.. How is the functionality of the unit ? can you use it in multiple modes? i.e. Nav and radio at the same time? That is one of the quircks that bother me with the Alpine.. also the fact that when I am in radio mode the screen is blnk or I have to have one of the cameras on.

yes, nav disk is seperate. So you can listen to a cd, watch the dvd, listen to the radio all with the nav going. In fact you can watch video from dvd, and play audio from the radio at the same time. Audio and video operate independently.

Michael, it won't work because your NAV uses the MOST bus (fiber-optic) system which interconnects many of the electronic components in your car. So unfortunately, you're pretty much stuck with factory.

newport996;

That's a very good looking install.
What was require to move the A/C controls to the bottom?
Do you have a part# for the bracket?

Thanks!

No part number, just call your local Porsche dealer...it was $9...The only thing that was tricky was routing the wires down, the space is pretty tight, but once that is done, it's a piece of cake. The dealer says it takes, 4 hours....BS...30 minutes on a bad day.

Screen was $1200, have seen them on eBay for about $1100, but I like a real store for purchases like these and if I need to return a DOA unit, I'm not waiting a month. I did the install myself, no cost there, just an afternoon and some patience. There are 3 Nav modules, the 2100 which is last years model, $600 if you can find them, the 3100 is the current model, $1200 and the new one out any day now, the 4100 will be about $1000.

I believe the 4100 is a combo. audio system and screen that just fits in you existing sterio system slot. No large screen.
