New 996 C4 owner
Hello. My name is Joe and I live in Cincinnati. I'm new to the forum and new to the world of Porsche as well. I've wanted a 911 ever since I was about 15, so I finally picked one up.
It's a 1999 996 C4, 6 speed, black/black, with 48K on the clock. And man, do I love this thing. I have not had that much seat time, so I'm still getting used to it. I love the way it seems to want to keep pulling in 5th and 6th gear. Plus I love that whirring whine sound at low speed and the sound of the exhaust under hard acceleration.
I've been driving an 86 Vette ragtop for the last 15 years, so it was definitely time to move on. Plus, my wife and I are expecting our first, so I told her we should sell the Vette and get a four seater to accommodate for the baby. (joke) She agreed, and now there is a 996 in the garage.
Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the Vette, as it is an easy car to drive at its limits, but the 996 is an improvement. Much more refined. One thing I will miss about the Vette is the great performance at Wal-Mart pricing.
My wife is not a car girl, so when she saw it for the first time she said, "Its nice," and "that wing thing on the back looks stupid." Oh well. All she wants in a car is safe, reliable transportation, and her AWD Nissan Rogue fits the bill.
Can't wait for the weather to break so I can spend more time behind the wheel.
Looking forward to talking with fellow 6 speeders here.

Welcome!! Nice C4.......
If you think you have an addiction now, just wait until you really learn how to drive these things.......you will never go back. And if you do, you'll be forever missing the porsche drive.
