Leak down/ compression check done. I need help analyzing the results.

Well, the test came back with between 17% and 19% leak down on 5 cylinders and 25% on cylinder one. Also, the compression was in the 220 range on the 5 cylinders and the 195 range on cylinder 1. Should I run and not wall away from this car with these numbers. Several Porsche techs said that for a road car, the difference is not that big of a deal. Is that true? Please someone give me an honest appraisal of this situation. Also, if you liked the car in all other respects, how much would this situation warrant the price to be reduced by? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

If the leakdown is done correctly, the engine is on its way out or already junk. PASS.

5-8% across all cylinders is good.

I agree. Years ago BMW had a bunch of bad engines and they would replace them if one or more cylinders registered 15% or higher. Factor in a 10-12K engine replacement and if still a smoking deal (no pun intended) you might consider but I would walk away.

Compression on #1 is out of range, and those leakdown numbers are appalling.

And I would not go to these Porsche technicians.
