Need some advice on a K&N Cold Air

I've read all about the oil getting to the MAF nightmares. Would it be effective to wipe all the oil off and let it sun bake? The product is inexpensive and effective, is it worth it or should I go with the 4" of Silicone and a plug?

The oiling nightmares you here are from users OVER oiling. K&N has done several tests and written an article on their site proving this MAF issue not being related when using the reoil procedure correctly. We helped K&N release the inital product and have sold over 300 pieces. I can say in all honesty that only about 5 reported issues we received. Here is some independent tests we did -

That silicone piece is a waste of time, just put a $60 K&N flat panel filter in it.

Cool, I've had K&N's before and never had an issue, but this is my first Porsche. Are you still running the $250 shipped special? Does that include the boot thing that keeps water out?

I had that only last week for a special. Give me a ring and I will give you a deal pretty close to that.

Cool, I just had to dump $900 into a car I'm selling, once I move that, I'll give you a ring.

GREAT INTAKE!

I have yet to see proof of directly-related MAF issues from the naysayers. Over 5k miles on mine and no issues, it is a great product for the $. I bought mine based on research and positive feedback from other members who have one. Awesome sound!

Great, thanks for the feedback, I just wanted to make sure since I read some things. Yeah, I'm pretty impressed with the dyno, and for under $300, why not?

I put a K&N CAI on my 03 C4S at 11,500 miles, now 20,000 and problems at all. Probably the mod for price you can do, I love mine.

Just remember to take negative battery cable off for at 30 minutes before installing and you won't have any problems.

K&N Vs. EVOMS

Considering the price difference between the 2. Is the K&N a better deal? Will you feel and hear the difference between the 2? Is the EVOMS with the $$$? thanks.

never had a problem. Put newpaper in and around mine for a night just in case. Disconnect the battery and let the computer reset so it relearns with the new air and you should be fine

I was told if u dont reset the ecu that the sudden increase in air flow is what makes the car think ****s busted..... i didnt risk it and I LOVE my intake, Sound is just like a beast

yeah if you don't disconnect the battery first before install you'll pop a CEL from the drastic airflow increase. Dealer would have to turn off light.

Expect car to be 'boggy' for the first mile until it adapts, then holy hell it sounds awesome
