Just installed K&N intake.............
Its more of a personal thing, I like maintaining things and keeping them clean and I tend to wash my cone filter twice a month cause I always see it. With the FIPK, the filter is more exposed than the OE filter.
Mine took around 2.5 hours. The instructions are not that good and there are so many little nuts and such, the diagram is not very pleasent to read. Putting the finished product in took 10 mins. This is with no beer breaks.......only chicken breast breaks.
K&N: i didn't notice any off the line dif., but at WOT the sound is awesome. ordered mine from vivid, would recommend. in regards to sc, i'll tell ya by this weekend....if Fabryce calls me in the A.M. (fingers & toes crossed) or monday!
I did the evo in about 1 hour and could tell a huge difference! The howl is awesome with the Plenum.
I have not had any Maf problems. I went with the evo cause a guy at my Porsche dealer sold it to me for 400.00 so I couldn't pass it up. Next stop will be a Super Charger.

How late into 996 models??
i dont think its the oil...
with the k&n i had hi temp readings on the MAF... and basically they were electrically not functioning.
then with the EVO i had out of range errors...again electrically not functioning.
if it was oil... then you could clean it off...i think it is more to due with a crappy maf design, and thats why they changed it for later 996's
