it really is a simple swap. Not sure why K&N doesn't partially assemble the heat shield beforehand as it would still fit in the box? Maybe it's to make us feel better that we can assemble lots of small parts . One small tip, when you take the stock air box out take a few minutes to clean out the intake and butterfly. The residue on the edges of the butterfly and cylinder not only can be sucked in to the heads but it impedes performance when dirty. Simple thing to do and it good for you.
