IPD Plenum, Fabspeed Cold air + BMC filter

Hi,
I am planning on upgrading to the IPD plenum (any chance of a group buy???). I talked to a local shop here NJ and they told me along with the Plenum, upgrade the cold air intake to the Fabspeed and keep the factory airbox. They recommended replacing the Porsche airfilter with a BMC filter. Overall, this doesnt sound like a bad idea. Anyone out there have this same setup? The reason I'd consider it is I am concerned about Check engine lights and fouled MAF sensors. However. I'd like to goose up the power in my 1999 C4 Cab.
Any thoughts?

Thanks, Joe D.

Don't spend good money on Fabspeed cold air intake tube. Get EVOMS or K&N. Plenum is a good mod. No CEL on either EVOMS or K&N and plenum. MAF is mostly on TT. I have K&N for close to 2 years now, no problem.

The BMC is a big improvement over stock, the cold air kit adds some sound, not sure if any hp increase. I did the RSS Plenum, very happy with the way everything works together.

i work with a very well know Porsche tuner (fordahl motorsports) and he did a ton of back to back test with the BMC and K&N intake. It was done on a bet, because the owner for fordahl didn't believe it would make more money..He told me (this is after I already bought the intake from someone else because he doesn't sell them) that the K&N produced 10hp MORE than the BMC on every dyno run...

I personally had the BMC with the fabpseed setup, and the K&N was night a day difference with the BUTT dyno

Thanks to everyone who read my post and responded. I contacted my local Porsche shop and asked about installation. Unfortunately, they told me that a modification such as this WILL void my warranty. I read my contract and yes in fact it says that in the fine print. I bought the car with a 2 year warranty, and I am only 4 months into it.

I will upgrade once my warranty runs out. If I am blessed, maybe to a 997S or Turbo . If I still have my C4 cab, I will be fortunate and try the IPD and a cold air kit of some kind.

Once again, thanks to all who tried to help me. You folks are great!

Sincerely, Joe D.

Plenum + K&N, it's all you need! Should be able to get them both for about $1100. I want a plenum so bad but just can't justify that expense right now, maybe in a couple months...

I dyno'd 10whp with the KN installed. seriously! and it was not expected.. I only bought it for the sound (and it sounds bad *** at WOT, no droning either). Still lovin' it.
I'm sure though that every car will have it's own unique result. Some pcars seem to come a bit "hotter" in hp from the factory than others, mine was on the lower end (compared to other stock 996's at the dyno that day), so the KN probably helped wake mine up a bit.

I don't see how the KN would void warranty- it is before any of the emissions controls etc.

Yeah I love the results of the K&N, you're looking at about 9-12+ Total WHP, and good range of 15+ WHP. It spikes in the mid 5K's to give you +22 WHP. I think for the price it's the best you can do. Although the install doesn't seem too fun. I don't know why they wouldn't just mimic the evoms design.

Dynos have so many variables but we have seen these consistent gains from dyno after dyno.
