I curbed my wheel :(

So im driving home from the hospital and its raining. Theres this curb that extends out a little... but of course I didnt see it and yea - i curbed my right rear wheel. this sucks.

its only a stock wheel but I still feel really bad about it because Im pretty **** in taking care of my car.

Does anyone know how much this would cost to get repaired??? And are there any shops in Chicago that you guys recommend?

Ill try and post some pics later

This guy has been advertising in the Scene for the Chi region PCA. I have not used him, so can't vouch for quality or price.

imagine if you had one wheel that you spent $1K on and you curb teh **** out of it and the only way to get another one is to special order it from japan (6-8 week wait) because they're 19x12s and no one stocks them... THAT sucks.

just trying to help u keep things inp erspective

Perhaps you can use this as the perfect excuse to have all four wheels polished to a chrome finish. (If that is something you want.)

look up some of the mobile wheel repair specialists in your area- I've used a couple in LA and runs about $50 - $100 per wheel depending on level of damage. They can usually fix it right on your car, at your home. A body shop will usually charge $200 per wheel or more, and you'll have to leave the wheel with them for a few days.

i used "velvet touch" in san diego. I hit a brick on the interstate, punctured the tire and bent the rim.........they fixed it for ~200.

so i am sure you can find a company to fix it in your area.

Bummer:

That is one of my biggest fears - curbing a rim. I'm not sure they can be repaired.

I've seen places listed that claim they can repair them but not ever seeing the end results personally my self.

It should be a relatively easy fix unless you dented the wheel. Then it might not even be repairable.

If you're a DIY type, there's a good tutorial here --> http://www.autopia-carcare.com/realwhda.html

I've seen two people use this method with very impressive results.

Cool

After looking at the "Before and After" section and reading the "Testimonials", I was impressed.
