Audio Sounds Bad!!
odd indeed! what year is your car, bose or non-bose system?
I'm not sure i was using the pre-amp outs before and the sound worked but i had to go max volume on the head unit to get a decent volume out of it. I swapped it out and used the speaker outs from the radio and it was much much louder but like i said it's very distorted not sure what the problem is
hmm- sorry I shoulda asked what year your car was. was thinking you had a post-facelift car.
it could very well be a pre-amp requirement, and could also be that your pre-amp output level is too low to properly drive the amp. Some of the new aftermarket decks have a good 4v preamp output. if it does in fact need preamp input, and it is low / staticy, then the preamp voltage output is not high enough to "drive" the amp.
i'm checking into this and will post some info later

Thanks haha i was so mad at the car i didnt even put it back together yet haha let me know i'm like seconds away from just puttin in some Component Speakers or something think thats my last thing i can do.......
You have 5v out at 100ohms on the preamp which is like my alpine @2v @10ohm. Are you sure you connected the blue/white wire from the headunit to the remote turn-on of the amp? Might be that the amp is not even turning on.
I did not see any info in user manual about switching between speaker outs and preamp outs for your headunit.
I really think it is an amp power on issue. Do you still have factory HU to try and put in?
I am hunting down the 996 wiring now.... have it on my other system

Yea the amp turns on and i do get sound out of the speakers if the volume it low it is not distorted at all but when you turn it up the sound gets very distorted....haha not a clue what it could be....
well page 66 of your headunit manual talks about distorted sound and adjusting the Digital ATT from high to low. Check that out.
Here is a site for the manuals of the car http://www.cannell.co.uk/Manuals.htm there is a wiring diag. posted at end of 996 section. In there it has a blow out of the amp wiring showing the 12v remote on wire that needs to go to blue/white of radio.
We'll get this..... LOL
