Audio Sounds Bad!!
this is really a strange one- that pioneer should rock. Flyer thx for your help and input as well.
HX - for the RCA output from the head unit, are you certain you have the pos / neg hooked up properly from deck output to amp input?
I believe if the amp did not turn on you would get 0 sound.

Right- Flyer may have a valid tech point where '99 radios used a low level input signal (RCA) and not the high-level input signal (speaker wires) like '02 and up. I assumed you had an '02 or newer 996, so my apologies for possibly leading you astray.
what did it sound like before the pioneer upgrade, anything abnormal sounding?

Ok i went back to how i had it set up before went the rca's out of the Pioneer cut the other end of the rca wire and wired it into the harness of the amp, tweeked with the radio for awhile and now it sounds pretty damn good not the loudest but may just be the muffler bypass haha but i wanna thank everyone for helping me out on this. This site is full of good people who are always looking to help people out thanks again!
Here's some advise I got frm another 99 C2 owner who upgraded his system:
Hope this helps- Thinking, if your Pioneer HU is "high power" it may actually have more juice to run your speakers than the stock amp, and it should have some sort of x-over built in for the F/R channels. Maybe try wiring your HU directly to the speakers?

You are probably having an issue with input leveling. The 5V pre-out your deck has is probably too much for the stock Haes amp. IMHO, you probably only have two options:
1) Use a line-leveler for your speaker outputs into the amp...or...probably a better option
2) Replace the useless factory amp.
Granted, you'll need cross-overs for the factory speakers or buy a six-channel amp with cross-overs built in. Beyond that, things get a little more complicated and therefore, expensive.
I was able to replace all four front speaker assemblies with MB Quart and Focal speakers, build a custom subwoofer enclosure that houses a JL Audio 10W3, install a decent Alpine HU and a nice used 5-channel JL Audio amp to drive the fronts/sub while my HU drives the rears within my budget of $1500.

Yea i was thinking about running the radio direct to the speakers i already went through the trouble of writing down what wire is what in the amp so it would be a pretty fast install if i do it it haha
